How it works
  • The hand — seven digits, 1 to 9, repeats and all, dealt off the date. Everyone gets the same seven, so there's no luck in it.
  • The target — somewhere between 1 and 365.
  • Take what you need — any of the seven, each one once. Leftovers are fine.
  • Whole numbers the whole way — every step has to land on a whole number. 5 ÷ 2 × 4 is out, even though it comes to 10.
  • Negatives are fine — dip under zero on the way if it helps.
  • No sticking digits together — a 7 and a 2 don't make 72.
  • Shortest takes it — fewest operators wins. Level pegging goes to whoever got there first.
  • Par — one more than the shortest possible answer. Match it and you're level; find the actual shortest one and you finish under par, same as golf. The shortest count itself sits right next to Par as "hole in one" — no harm showing it, since it's just Par minus one.
  • Dunno — stuck is stuck. Ask and Boet shows you how it's done, but you're off the board for the day.

Boet counts the operators himself when you submit, so there's no point being clever with the browser. Par is worked out on the server too — you get told the number, never the answer.
